FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why should I hire an independent vehicle expert after an accident?

An independent motor vehicle assessor protects your claims by evaluating the damage objectively. They prepare a professional expert report covering all the key figures:

  • repair costs
  • replacement value
  • any diminished value

This ensures you receive fair and full compensation from the insurer.

What should I do right after an accident?

1. Secure the accident scene and notify the police.

2. Take photos of the damage and the accident scene.

3. Do not admit fault in any way.

4. Contact a vehicle expert and, if necessary, a lawyer.

💡 Tip: Get in touch with us right away – we'll take care of everything else.

Can't I just rely on the insurance company?

Not quite. Insurers act in their own interest and often try to reduce the claim amount. An independent assessor evaluates the damage realistically and makes sure no deductions are made.

Who pays for the vehicle expert?

Non-fault accident (third-party liability claim): The other party's insurer covers the assessor's fees.

At-fault accident (comprehensive Kasko claim): Your own insurer decides whether an expert report is needed. It's best to clarify beforehand whether you'll have to cover the costs yourself.

What do I gain by handing the settlement over to the assessor's office and a lawyer?

The lawyer enforces your claims against the insurer. You don't have to deal with anything – everything is handled professionally.

In a non-fault accident, the other party's insurer covers the costs of both the assessor and the lawyer.

Why is an independent assessor better than the insurer's own?

An assessor working for the insurance company may try to underestimate the damage. An independent expert works solely in your interest and ensures a fair damage assessment.

What happens in the event of a total loss?

The expert determines:

  • the replacement value
  • the residual value of your vehicle

This ensures you receive fair compensation and can arrange the sale of your damaged vehicle in the best possible way.

Am I entitled to a rental car or loss-of-use compensation?

Yes. Depending on the report and the downtime, you can either use a rental car or receive loss-of-use compensation. This information is documented in the expert report.

How long does it take to receive the expert report?

You usually receive your expert report within 24–48 hours of the assessment.
